The pet travel market is booming, with about $6 billion spent annually by the 30 million Americans who said they had traveled with their pets in the past three years. It’s no surprise that more and more places are welcoming furry travelers, who are very happy with this trend.
We’ll be visiting some of the pet friendliest destinations in the country, showcasing the best lodgings, restaurants, hiking and hanging-out spots, and offering pet travel tips. We’ll also be highlighting places in every city that are doing creative things to help animals. We hope you’ll help us find the best your hometown has to offer.
Our host, Kyra Batte, is a beauty queen, animal advocate, and smart cookie: She graduated from the University of Arizona with a psychology degree and has been a pet enthusiast from way back. She shares her home in Tucson with Kissy, a toy poodle, and Kujo, a shy Shih-Tzu Maltese mix, and can’t wait to travel around the country meeting fellow animal lovers.

Our host, Kyra Batte, is a graduate of the University of Arizona and whose credits include: beauty queen, and actress in film, theater and television. And she is definitely a pet person. When she was really little, Kyra used to beg her parents to let her have a dog. Her dad finally gave in and got her a pet when she was five -- a bird that she named Tweety. Two more birds named Tweety later, her mom allowed her get a dog: Missy, a toy poodle. We’re not sure if her mom thought Kyra was responsible enough at age 10 to take care of a dog or if she just couldn’t bear the thought of Tweety the 4th. Kyra now lives with another toy poodle, Kissy, and a Shih-Tzu Maltese mix named Kujo... Kujo? You should see Kyra's Kujo - not only is he small, but he's really shy! As you can see from the pictures of the photo shoot, Kyra is a serious puppy charmer. Hmmm...She was a psych major in college. Maybe she took her electives in Advanced Canine Psychology? If there’s anything that Kyra enjoys as much as pets, it’s travel, so we’re all looking forward to hitting the road with a gal who has major animal magnetism. |
